James was raised just a few blocks from the law office in Aurora. He worked in various roles at the office for several years before becoming a staff attorney. James obtained his undergraduate degree in Spanish, and Business Administration at Drury University. Upon graduation from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Law School in 1985, James returned to his home town of Aurora. Throughout his legal training and career, James has been mentored by his father (Scott Pettit) and grandfather (Walt Pettit) as well as other attorneys and judges throughout the legal community giving him experience in many areas of the law.

Those who know James best, recognize his strong work ethic, an insatiable drive to figure out solutions to problems and the drive to assist people throughout their problems. In addition to Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation cases, James has extensive experience in Adoptions, Estate Planning, and DWI Defense.

James is married to Carissa and together they enjoy outdoor activities, physical fitness and traveling. James has completed several marathons and triathlons. He also has certifications in many other activities including personal training, cooking, and police training.
